Archive Lane Genealogical Research Process

Back to Our Process

Genealogical research follows the Archive Lane process, with additional review steps specific to historical investigation and documentation.

Step 1. Submit the Research Request Form

This allows Archive Lane to assess feasibility and estimated research time.

All genealogy projects begin with a required intake review. The intake form helps clarify:

  • Research goals

  • Known names, dates, and locations

  • Existing documentation

  • Scope expectations

Step 2. Research Plan & Estimate

No research begins until scope and authorization are confirmed.

After intake review:

  • A proposed research scope is prepared

  • Estimated research hours are provided

  • Applicable research fee is outlined

Step 3. Active Research & Documentation

Findings are compiled with clear documentation and analysis where applicable.

Research is conducted using:

  • Evidence-based genealogical standards

  • Documented primary and secondary sources

  • Proper source citation practices

Step 4. Delivery of Findings

Digital files are delivered securely upon completion
