Notary Services Policies & Details

Back to Notary Services

This page provides additional information about Archive Lane’s notary services, including eligibility, identification requirements, fees, scheduling policies, and how notary services integrate with other Archive Lane projects.

All notary services are performed in accordance with Pennsylvania notary law.

General Information

Archive Lane provides appointment-based, stand-alone notary services for individuals needing documents notarized for personal, family, or administrative purposes.

Notary appointments booked through the online scheduler are intended only for stand-alone notary services.

If notarization is required as part of another Archive Lane service (such as document digitization, genealogy research, or estate-related projects), scheduling is coordinated directly by Archive Lane as part of the project workflow and should not be booked separately.

Archive Lane notarizes a wide range of standard documents, including but not limited to:

  • Affidavits

  • Powers of attorney

  • Personal or family documents

  • Administrative or business forms

  • Estate-related paperwork

Notarizations cannot be performed if:

  • The document is incomplete

  • The document has already been signed

  • Required signers are not present

  • The signer cannot be properly identified

  • The notarization would violate Pennsylvania notary law

Archive Lane notaries do not determine the legal validity of documents and do not advise on whether a document should be notarized.

Identification & Legal Requirements

To complete a notarization, the following are required:

  • A valid, government-issued photo ID for each signer

  • All required signers must be physically present at the time of notarization

  • Documents must be complete and unsigned prior to the appointment

  • Any required witnesses must be present at the time of notarization

Archive Lane notaries cannot provide legal advice, assist with document preparation, or explain the legal effect of documents.

Fees, Scheduling & Payment

Statutory Notary Fees:

  • $5 per notarization (per act), as permitted by Pennsylvania law

  • Payment is due at the time of service

  • Cash payment is accepted for statutory notary fees

After-Hours Appointments

Notary appointments scheduled outside of standard business hours are subject to a minimum $35 convenience fee.

This fee is separate from Pennsylvania-regulated notary fees ($5 per notarization, per act) and is due at the time of service.

Scheduling, Cancellations & Missed Appointments

  • Appointments are reserved specifically for the scheduled time

  • If you are unable to attend your appointment, advance notice is appreciated

  • Incomplete documents, missing identification, or absent signers may result in the notarization being declined

Notary fees apply per act completed. Fees are not charged for notarizations that cannot be performed due to unmet legal requirements

Notary Services Within Other Archive Lane Projects

When notary services are required as part of another Archive Lane service (such as document digitization, genealogy research, or compliance-related projects), notarization is coordinated directly by Archive Lane as part of the project workflow.

These notarizations:

  • Are not booked through the public scheduler

  • Are scheduled based on project timelines

  • Follow the same legal and identification requirements

This ensures proper sequencing, handling, and compliance within the broader project scope.

Questions Before Your Appointment

If you have questions about whether your document can be notarized, what identification is required, or how notary services fit into an existing Archive Lane project, please contact Archive Lane prior to booking.
